October 22, 2024 – Sometimes in fantasy football, even an incredible performance isn't enough to secure the win. Such was the case for GM Salomone this week, whose team put up a remarkable 150 points, only to be edged out by GM Worden, whose squad delivered a league-high 155 points. Despite Salomone’s standout performances from Lamar Jackson, Tank Bigsby, and “Oil” Derrick Henry, it wasn’t quite enough to topple Worden’s powerhouse team, led by Jahmyr Gibbs, AJ Brown, and Aaron Jones.
Salomone's Standouts: Lamar, Bigsby, and Henry Shine
Heading into the matchup, GM Salomone had high hopes for his roster, particularly with quarterback Lamar Jackson and veteran running back Derrick Henry, affectionately nicknamed “Oil” Derrick Henry for his ability to power through defenses with ease.
Lamar Jackson delivered one of his best performances of the season, racking up fantasy points with both his arm and legs, throwing 5 touchdowns and rushing for over 50 yards.
Tank Bigsby, the rookie running back for Jacksonville, surprised everyone with a breakout game, providing critical yards and a pair of touchdowns, giving Salomone a much-needed boost.
"Oil" Derrick Henry, as always, was a force to be reckoned with, plowing through defenses and adding another touchdown to his resume, reminding everyone why he’s still one of the most feared running backs in the league.
Salmone's team came together for an impressive 150 points—a score that would win in almost any other week.
GM Worden’s High-Scoring Squad: Gibbs, Brown, and Jones Seal the Win
Unfortunately for Salomone, his opponent GM Worden had an equally explosive week. Worden’s team, boasting talent across the board, came through in key moments to narrowly edge out the victory:
Jahmyr Gibbs had a breakout game, showcasing his speed and versatility with multiple touchdowns, setting the tone for Worden's team early.
AJ Brown, the Philadelphia Eagles’ star wide receiver, continued his dominant season with another monster game, torching opposing defenses and piling on points.
Aaron Jones, though battling injuries earlier in the season, came through with a critical performance, contributing both as a runner and pass-catcher to seal the win for Worden.
Worden’s squad scored 155 points, just enough to overcome Salomone’s 150 and claim the victory in one of the most exciting matchups of the season.
A Tough Loss for Salomone
For GM Salomone, the loss was particularly tough to swallow, knowing his team performed at such a high level. Scoring 150 points, he had every reason to believe he could secure the win, but running into the highest-scoring team in the league left him on the wrong side of a narrow 5-point defeat.
"It’s frustrating," Salomone admitted. "The guys played their hearts out, and to put up 150 points and still lose—it stings. But sometimes that’s just how fantasy football goes. You run into a buzzsaw, and there’s nothing you can do."
Looking Ahead
Despite the loss, GM Salomone can take solace in the fact that his team is firing on all cylinders. With Lamar Jackson playing at an elite level, Derrick Henry continuing to dominate, and Tank Bigsby showing flashes of his potential, Salomone is well-positioned for the remainder of the season.
As for GM Worden, his team remains one of the most formidable in the league, but Salomone’s performance sends a clear message: he’s not far behind. With matchups this close, it’s clear that the playoff race will be fierce in the weeks to come.
